This Is Where

Monsters Come

To Die.

is a psychological horror game with utmost attention to the atmosphere and detail. The story is told abstractly, and will be further expanded upon in the full release. I'd like to hear what you believe the story is about. The game is inspired by Twin Peaks, Silent Hill 2, and the early Resident Evil games.

You are in an ancient forest, where monsters and the likes of you have come for thousands of years to end their lives appropriately. But there is an unexpected host with mysterious intentions.

This is the demo of a game that I want to finish in the near future. It was developed in its entirety in about 1 month. I want to add more puzzles, delve deeper into the story and create a 1 or 2 hour experience for people that might like it. The demo is basically here to set the tone for the rest of the game.

Here it goes:

Hey thanks for playing!! I hope you enjoyed it! Hoped to hear some commentary on the video :-)

Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot comments. I usually comment thru subtitles. I don't like show myself - the purpose is games. The games needs appear. ;) I actually thought about video producer who comment by voice - pretenders to  auto promotion themselves. I don't like that. I think about me as a  game "display". But i will hear you suggest. Thank you. I think about it, I would try it without interfere or maneuver to I own, though.

Commentary through subtitles sounds like a really unique feature! The people who want to have commentary can read the subtitles, but those who don't can just turn them off. Great idea mate :-)

Really good demo. The atmosphere is great and that bit at the end is a nice surprise.

I do have some nitpicks:

  • The wolf that appears from the left side of the screen is impossible to react to.
  • Player can't switch flashlight and shotgun when walking.
  • The scares with the wendigo-thing rely too much on sudden loud noises.

Thanks a lot for giving a shot at a failed, forgotten game that never received any attention to begin with. I must say I was NOT expecting to get a comment on this game, ever, but someone actually playing my game, a fellow indie dev, was actually a really nice way to end my day. I agree with your criticisms, I was too focused on the atmosphere and the story that I believe I violated multiple game design rules. Haha. Again, thank you for playing man, really means a lot.
